Here are some FAQs we've received about City utilities/shutoffs:
Q: Is the City resuming utility shutoffs?
A: Yes. Governor Inslee's moratorium on utility shutoffs expired on September 30.
Q: When will my water be shutoff?
A: Delinquent bills went out on November 30, 2021. Delinquent bills are due by December 7.
Q: When is the latest I can pay to avoid my water being shutoff?
A: To avoid further penalties, payment needs to be made no later than December 7 (even if paying online). To avoid water shutoff, payment needs to be received by our office by December 8.
Q: What community organizations can I reach out to for help?
A: Crossroads Housing (crossroads-housing.net or 360-427-6919) and the Community Action Council (caclmt.org or 360-426-9726) have various assistance programs for homeowners and renters. Please reach out to those organizations for further details on available programs.
Q: Are there any City programs that can help me?
A: We currently offer a promise to pay program and a will pay program. For the promise to pay program, if eligible, please come see Customer Service at the Civic Center by 4:00 p.m. on December 7.
The will pay program is available for homeowners only. Applications for the will pay program are available online (sheltonwa.gov/assistance) or at Customer Service at the Civic Center. Please come see Customer Service ASAP to complete will pay program set-up, if eligible.
