The Shelton Police Department is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Records Division is responsible for maintaining accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information pertaining to the department and manages the Shelton Police Department evidence vault.
Concealed Pistol License
Concealed pistol permits are issued to City residents in the Shelton Police Department Records Division Monday through Friday.
You must be a City of Shelton resident to apply for a permit through the Shelton Police Department. An application must be completed and fingerprints taken (Get application form at the Police Department). There will be a 3 week waiting period before the original license is issued.
The processing fee for an original permit is $49.25 and must be paid at the time of application. If renewal of the permit is made within 90 days prior to the expiration, the fee is $32.00. If renewal is during the 90 days after the permit expires, the fee is $42.00. After 90 days past the permit's expiration date, it is necessary to start the process over. The fee for replacement of a permit is $10.00. All fees must be paid upon application and are non-refundable.

Evidence / Found Property
Property held in evidence are items from a criminal case. Items being held as evidence in a criminal case cannot be released until final disposition and/or approval from either the City Prosecutor's Office or Mason County Prosecutor's Office.
Found Property are items being held for safekeeping. A letter will be sent out to known owners of the found property. The owner will then have 60 days to retrieve their property, after that time the property will be destroyed, auctioned or given to charity.
The primary duty of the evidence custodian is to ensure the proper chain of custody for any and all found items, safekeeping items, seized/forfeited items and evidentiary items taken by the Shelton Police Department.
The Shelton Police Department will be auctioning various bicycles, tools, cell phones, electronic equipment, jewelry, knives, and skateboards through www.propertyroom.com. The Shelton Police Department Records Division fingerprints Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The charge is $60.00 per card, this may be paid by cash or check.
Please bring valid identification and the fingerprint card(s) with you, with the cards filled out using black ink. Print cards may be acquired from the requestor of the prints or download the prints from the FBI website.

The Shelton Police Department is committed to responding to your request for public records in a timely manner. This is also a requirement under the Washington State Public Disclosure Act (RCW 42.56).
So that we can process your request, we need a clear description of the specific record you are requesting. Within five business days (excluding holidays) of receiving your request we will either send you the record or an estimation of the time needed to comply with the request. If we are unable to comply with your request for some reason, we will provide you with the cause for the withholding of the record.
