A Wealth of Water
The abundance of natural resources found in Mason County includes 250 miles of marine shoreline, 223 lakes and 312 miles of streams. These marine and freshwater resources are valued for countless recreational and commercial (employment) opportunities as well as for their importance to a traditional diet and way of life. The on-going quality of these water resources is the concern of Mason County, the Squaxin and Skokomish Tribe, the City of Shelton and state and federal agencies and to all citizens of the county.

It will include improvements to existing hatchery operations at Tumwater Falls Park and a new facility upstream at Pioneer Park. The project will also include an environmental learning center, interpretive exhibits and programs, and a Deschutes River corridor trail that eventually will link Pioneer Park to Puget Sound.
