Police Department - School Programs
|
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) focuses on the negative health effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, an emphasis on peer, family and personal pressures is a vital part of this program.
A focus on community service was highlighted this year with the D.A.R.E. program. Some of the D.A.R.E. students participated in service projects that focused on helping others in their communities.
S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) program is a great success. Officer Brent Dehning patrols Shelton High School, Oakland Bay Jr. High School, Olympic Middle School and CHOICE Alternative School.
In all, the School District is continuing with a tremendous tradition of fostering relationships between police, school, and community by working together for our children in our city.
