New Station Updates

The City of Shelton has approved the construction of a new fire station at the site of the existing facility at the corner of 2nd & Franklin Street in downtown Shelton. The contractor for the construction is Jones & Roberts Company of Olympia, Washington.

This project will be done in phases and involves interior and exterior renovation of the original 1932 (1,894 square foot) Public Safety Building and demolition of the remaining structures at this site including: existing truck bays and multiple story structure above two mobile home office buildings. The demolition of structures is to make way for the construction of a new 12,572 square foot two-story structure which would contain: five fire apparatus bays to be accessed off of Franklin Street, living space for resident firefighters, and various administrative offices. This project also includes reorientation of vehicle travel on Second Street, between Franklin Street and Cedar Street, to a one-way northbound direction with consolidation of on-street parking to the east side of Second Street to facilitate the provision of additional on-street parking. Replacement of the existing sidewalks/driveway apron and Street improvements also including a parking lot at the east side of this site after removal of existing (in use) fire station portables.
